Designer

Role Overview

Landscape Designers are responsible for planning outdoor spaces that are functional, sustainable, and visually appealing. This role combines creativity with technical knowledge and client communication.

Skills & Experience Needed

  • Experience in landscape design or horticulture (formal education preferred but not always required)
  • Strong understanding of plants, soils, irrigation, and site conditions
  • Ability to design for Northern California climates, including drought-tolerant and native plants
  • Knowledge of fire-safe and environmentally friendly design principles Proficiency with design tools (hand sketches, digital design software, or CAD)
  • Ability to read site plans, measurements, and elevations

Foreman

Role Overview

The Foreman leads the crew on-site and ensures projects are installed safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This is a leadership position that bridges management and hands-on work.

Skills & Experience Needed

  • Previous experience in landscape installation or construction
  • Strong knowledge of hardscape, planting, irrigation, and grading
  • Ability to read and follow landscape plans and specifications
  • Experience leading or supervising a crew
  • Understanding of jobsite safety practices
  • Ability to plan daily tasks and manage time effectively
  • Problem-solving skills for on-site challenges
  • Clear communication with crew members, management, and clients
  • Valid driver’s license (often required)

    • Hands-on and detail-focused

Labor

Role Overview

Laborers support all aspects of landscape installation and maintenance. This is an entry-level to skilled position with opportunities for growth.

Skills & Experience Needed

  • Willingness to perform physical outdoor work
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of tools (or willingness to learn)
  • Interest in landscaping, plants, or construction
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness

Experience Level

  • Prior landscaping experience is a plus but not required
  • On-the-job training provided for motivated individuals
